Micah Austin

About Me

My name is Micah Austin and I am a Computer Science student at the University of South Carolina with a strong interest in artificial intelligence and its unrivaled potential to solve complex, real-world problems. I am seeking opportunities to contribute to innovative teams while continuing to develop my skills in software development, machine learning, and system design.

My academic experience, so far, as well as combined with multiple personal projects, has allowed me to build a solid foundation in Python, Java, and C++, along with gaining experience in algorithmic thinking and AI fundamentals. I, myself, am currently developing a platform designed to mitigate bias via underrepresented user demographics through fostering a stronger connection between AI project developers and the general public. In doing so, I have managed to build multiple core application modules and design system functionality from the ground up.

In addition to my technical work, I have experience teaching STEM courses to middle school students, in which I developed and delivered lessons on robotics, automation, and introductory AI concepts. This honed my ability to communicate complex ideas and reinforced my passion for making technology more accessible and impactful, especially to up-and-coming engineers. I am particularly interested in the broader applications of artificial intelligence: ethical AI development, intelligent systems, and decision-making technologies.

I am motivated to contribute to projects that prioritize both innovation and accountable designs, and I am eager to continue learning in collaborative environments.
